Stop Smoking

Smokers who want to quit are much more likely to succeed when they have the right support.

The most effective way of quitting is with a combination of a stop-smoking aid, such as nicotine replacement therapy or a vape, with behavioural support from a stop-smoking service. Despite this, around half of all smokers in England try to quit unaided using willpower alone. This is the least effective method. Using a stop-smoking aid improves the chances of success.

Vapes are the most effective and most popular quit aid. They may be particularly helpful for people with mental health challenges. There are a lot of options available, so people who smoke shouldn’t be discouraged if the first one they try doesn’t work for them as other smoke.
