You Said, We Did

A drinks fountain would be good:

Unfortunately because of health and safety reasons a water fountain cannot be located in the reception area but we do have a water tower – just ask at reception

I would like to get an appointment easier:

We now offer booking appointments online – just ask at reception about this service

Better waiting area:

This area has now been re-organised to allow for more confidentiality when speaking to a receptionist at the desk. Unfortunately we cannot move the reception area to allow better access but hopefully more on line services will reduce the queues in this area.

New reception staff slow things down:

We can only apologise for this, we have recently recruited 3 new staff members and they are working really hard to get up to speed with all processes and procedures.

Shorter waiting times for appointments:

We have employed 1 extra member of the clinical team and are recruiting another to ease the burden in this area. Both are advanced nurse practitioner.

Appointments should be on time:

At Wombwell medical centre we take pride in  the way our clinicians take the time to listen to and discuss with patients and this is often difficult to do in the allotted 10 minutes. We are constantly reviewing the amount of time patients have to wait to see a clinician to seek improvements in this area.

Too many signs in waiting room:

We have re-organised the posters in the waiting area to reflect comments from the friends and family results.

Toys in the waiting area:

We recently purchased an accredited toy/maze for the waiting area and it lasted 4 weeks before someone broke it.  We cannot keep buying games/toys for them to be broken.  This will be reviewed in the New Year.

Higher chairs for the elderly:

This is something that has never been mentioned before so this will be taken to the clinical meeting to be discussed – to be updated.

Waiting a long time for an emergency appointment:

At Wombwell we do not refuse to see any patients on an emergency basis, however depending on the emergency you may have to sit and wait until the end of the surgery.
